Primary and Urgent Care

The Student Health Clinic’s primary and urgent care services are provided by a board-certified family practice physician, certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants. These services include but are not limited to immunizations, physicals, gynecologic exams, sexually transmitted infection and HIV testing. Same-day appointments are available for urgent care needs.

Counseling Center Services

The Counseling Center provides individual counseling sessions, group counseling, couples counseling and mind-body services, which are free for students.

Disability Services

The Access & Accommodations Center offers a variety of resources to students, faculty and staff to support the education and career goals of those with disabilities. We promote an inclusive experience by encouraging students with disabilities to use the multitude of academic, career and social opportunities to learn, live, work and play on campus.

Specialized Care

Students who require more specialized care may be referred by a clinician to specialists in the local community for further evaluation and treatment.

MILITARY OUTREACH

Georgia State welcomes military-connected students, supporting them through special outreach programs designed to meet the unique needs and challenges of today’s military community. Each of our six campuses features its own Military Outreach Center. The centers maintain information about campus and community resources, plus local veteran support services. They also work to connect and foster camaraderie between military and veteran students.

Safety

Patrolling our buildings, parks and streets by foot, bicycle and car, the Georgia State Police Department works to safeguard the university at all times. As of April 2022, the department is led by Chief Anthony Coleman, who has proudly served the university for more than 30 years.

Take comfort in the fact that campus is filled with precautionary monitoring systems, including 24/7 safety escorts, housing and building patrols, vehicle assists, emergency call boxes and an emergency alert system that keeps you in the know and can be downloaded to your phone. Georgia State complies with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (the “Clery Act”).

Transportation

Atlanta is a sprawling city, but convenient transportation options make navigating campus and beyond a breeze. Ride MARTA, Atlanta’s rapid transit rail system and bus system, at a discounted student rate. Snag a seat on the Atlanta Streetcar or the Panther Express. Park your car at select residence halls, decks and lots around campus. Or rent a bike from Panther Bikes to ride around downtown.
